Mopad Developments is a SMME with two members who are historically disadvantaged individuals. We are BEE compliant having 50 percent  male and female representation. Mopad Developments has sufficient financial resources; adequate management skills;  and  medical and  technical expertise.

Mopad is the brainchild of Dr Shalandran Padayachee. He is a medical doctor whose childhood and teenage years were spent in Umhlali and Shakashead. These  years equipped  him to fully understand the needs and development warranted in such areas. His business  skills developed very early in life when he learnt that money had to be earned. He saw the potential in an area that was historically overlooked and envisaged  providing a healthcare service.

This small holding was purchased whilst he was a first year medical student at the University of Natal (Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine). While still on the road to achieving his goal of becoming a doctor, the astute businessman in him created other business ventures to maximise the potential of this site. These brought him personal success and this, together with the ongoing boom on the North Coast of KwaZulu Natal has helped him broaden his long term perspective.

The concept that began over 10 years ago has evolved with the help of Dr Shirlony Morgan. Following their graduation from University of Natal Medical School they have had the opportunity to work in very diverse settings including urban and rural South Africa, as well as the United Kingdom. Their collaboration over the last few years culminated in the creation of the SMME,   Mopad Developments   which was registered in 2005.

Dr Morgan also grew up on the North Coast and being involved in several local organisations has shown her strong sense of community. Her interest in people and the psychological impacts of illness and social denominators has influenced her decision to embark on a postgraduate degree in Psychiatry. She shares in the vision of progress for KwaZulu Natal and brings a dynamic insight to the problems facing disadvantaged communities in South Africa.
